What Is Indexability

What is Indexability? A web search is very much an automated activity. The major role of a search engine like Google is to find the keywords and then display the information on its search engine results page. However, you can also use the search function to find information about a site, or an individual page of a website, or a page of the web. That is why most of the websites that are categorized under “site map” will show their address, not just their name.

Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) now outdated because it seems to be an older concept than today’s technology? No, this is absolutely not the case. Yes, SEO is one of the most popular forms of web marketing nowadays. However, you still need to optimize your site for search engines, and crawlability is a big factor in SEO. Before we can talk about what makes a site or individual page of a website crawlable, we need to know what the meaning of the word crawlability is. One of the main goals of search engine optimization is to increase the number of traffic to your website.

Are crawlers better than robots or spiders in the sense that they improve crawlability of the website? Yes, because crawlers can crawl the pages on the internet as fast as human beings. With crawling robots, a human manually collects the data into a database. This is faster than human experts, but crawlers do not have access to a database of crawled sites. For instance, if there is a web directory containing all the sites on the internet, but the crawler cannot access it, it will not be able to recognize your site as one of the important pages of the directory.
